Brentford pip Derby to highly-rated Premier League winger

Get West London understands that Brentford have beaten Championship rivals Derby County to the loan signing of highly-rated Crystal Palace winger Sullay Kaikai. The 21-year-old has impressed in loan moves to Cambridge United and Shrewsbury Town in recent seasons.

Bees boss Dean Smith had been hoping to sign up a winger on deadline day and looks set to land his man. Even though Kaikai has never played Championship football, he is proven in the lower echelons of the English Football League and is worthy of his chance. Smith has mainly targeted players that have impressed in lower leagues in terms of his recent transfer recruitment.

Southwark-born Kaikai has been on the books at Selhurst Park since the age of 15. He has made two appearances in the first team and scored in the League Cup defeat to Newcastle United in September 2014. He netted 12 goals for Shrewsbury last season as they avoided relegation into League Two under management Micky Mellon.

Nigel Pearson was also hopeful of further adding to his Derby squad in the form of Kaikai, who clearly has a string of admirers thanks to his dazzling skills and ability to find the back of the net. He has yet to make an appearance this season, but will be hoping to make up for lost time with Brentford following the international break.
