Birmingham City sign second player on loan

Birmingham City have signed Rhoys Wiggins from Bournemouth on loan until January as confirmed by the club website.

The 28-year-old defender returned to Bournemouth in January after an ill-fated spell with Sheffield Wednesday but he has struggled to get back into the first team since returning to Dean Court and hasn’t made a single appearance for them since signing for them again. And now in order to make sure he does get some time on the pitch, he has now joined the Blues on loan until January.

This is the second player that Birmingham have signed on loan today. The Blues have also got a new striker after they signed Lukas Jutkiewicz on loan from Burnley and now after also completing the deal to sign Wiggins on a temporary deal they can say they’ve strengthened their defence as well as their front line.

Wiggins started his career at the Crystal Palace academy but he only made one appearance there and actually made his début while on loan with Bournemouth the first time he signed for them. He then moved to Norwich City, but never made an appearance there and ended up moving back on loan to Bournemouth. He then finally made his move to Bournemouth permanent but only spent a year on the south coast before moving to Charlton Athletic. He made over a 100 appearances while at the Addicks before making a move to Sheffield Wednesday in 2015. He struggled to break into the first team and then moved back to Bournemouth for his fourth spell there in 2016.
