Celtic midfielder has medical ahead of £2million Championship move

The Daily Mail understands that Sky Bet Championship side Fulham are closing in on a deal to sign Celtic midfielder Stefan Johansen. The Norwegian international is no longer a regular with the Scottish giants, and Brendan Rodgers confirmed to the BBC that he is set to leave the club.

A few months ago the player rejected new contract talks with the club and is now finally closing in on a move away from Celtic Park. Slavisa Jokanovic looks set to bring the creative midfielder to Craven Cottage for £2million. He was said to be underwent a medical today (Thursday).

Celtic are said to be keen on reducing the numbers on their squad and Johansen moving on at least frees up some room for the ex-Liverpool boss to add a midfielder of his own.

It has already been a busy day for Fulham after they swooped for KRC Genk attacking midfielder Neeskens Kebano on a three-year contract. Jozabed recently joined the club as well, and with Johansen set to follow, the midfield is already an extremely competitive area in the Fulham roster.

25-year-old Johansen has played over 70 times for Celtic since moving from Stromsgodset along with Ronny Deila in January 2014. Celtic are not said to lose out on this deal, as they indeed paid the Norwegian club £2million to sign him up in the first place. It remains to be seen if the deal will go through in time before Fulham face Blackburn Rovers this weekend.
