Benfica forward undergoes medical at Norwich City

Benfica’s Nelson Oliveira has undergone a medical at Norwich City according to a report from Portuguese publication Maisfutebol.

While the 25-year-old is contracted to Benfica, he has spent much of his recent career in England after spending loan spells with Swansea City and Nottingham Forest. And now Benfica are hoping to ship Oliveira out and it seems like Norwich are going to snap him up after reports said that he was at the club yesterday to complete a medical.

The Canaries have been looking to sign a new striker all the summer with the departure of Riocky van Wolfswinkel and Kyle Lafferty being on the transfer list as they want some one to be able to provide competition to current first teamer Cameron Jerome. And with Oliveira having prestige having played for Benfica and being capped by Portugal as well as having experience in the EFL, he is the perfect man for Norwich to try and sign.

The only unknown about this deal is whether it is a loan deal or permanent. It would be no surprise to see Benfica cash in on the forward after years of being loaned out, but they may still think he has a crack of getting into the first team and just want to loan him out.
