Wolves leading race to sign Middlesbrough’s £12m striker

Wolves are leading the race to sign Middlesbrough’s Jordan Rhodes according to a report from Sky Sports.

The striker only joined Middlesbrough from Blackburn Rovers for a fee of £12m back in January but despite all the hype it hasn’t really worked out for him yet. He did have a decent score rate after scoring six times in 18 appearances but with such a massive fee, fans did expect a bit more.

And now that Middlesbrough have been promoted from the Sky Bet Championship and are in the Premier League, Rhodes has seen him pushed out of the first team. Alvaro Negredo was signed up to be their first team forward and Rhodes wasn’t even in the squad for their win over fierce rivals Sunderland, with his fellow forward Cristhian Stuani who was signed before Rhodes, attracting the headlines with his goals. And with the club not seeming to want Rhodes in their first team, speculation has started that he could be heading out of Riverside very soon.

And it looks like Wolves are going to take the chance to try and sign him. The Black County club have plenty of money to splash out on players after the takeover from Fosun International and signing a proven striker like Rhodes would be a good use of their cash.
