Newcastle United looking to sign Wolfsburg striker

Newcastle United are trying to sign Wolfsburg’s Bas Dost according to a report from HITC Sport.

Despite the Magpies already having a big name striker signing this summer after Dwight Gayle joined from Crystal Palace and Aleksandar Mitrovic recently returning from his suspension, they are looking to sign another striker in order to boost their firepower. And in order to do that they are resuming their long-term interest in Dost.

The Tyneside club had been interested in signing Dost when they were in the Premier League but it was a deal that never transpired. However while they have dropped down to the Sky Bet Championship, it might actually be more likely that they’ll sign him this season. His club Wolfsburg have recently signed Mario Gomez and are now willing to sell Dost if the deal is right and now Newcastle are looking to make the right offer which means he’ll be joining the rest of the squad in the North East soon. They’ll hope to have the deal done for Saturday’s match against Derby County.

The 27-year-old striker is coming off the back of a decent season for Wolfsburg having scored 11 goals in 34 appearances last season. He’s also got off to a good start this season after scoring in his only game so far against FSV Frankfurt.
