Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Vincent Sasso from SC Braga for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.
The 25-year-old year old defender is well-known to Wednesday fans having spent last season on loan with the club. He wasn’t a regular for the first team having only made 19 appearances last season but he was a useful back up to the usual defensive pairing of Tom Lees and Glenn Loovens and will likely return to being a squad player now that he’s signed for the club on a permanent deal.
The French defender started his career in Nantes but never made a senior appearance for them and soon moved to Portugal to play for Beira Mar. He only spent six months at that club though before making a move to Europa League regulars Braga. Unfortunately he never spent much time on the pitch during his three and a half years at the club, making only 17 appearances for them. Now though he will hope to get more time on the pitch now that he’s moved back to South Yorkshire.
Sheffield Wednesday have had a mixed start to the season, having won their opening game against Aston Villa, drawn with Norwich City before succumbing to a loss against Burton Albion.
