West Brom move in on Newcastle United defender

West Bromwich Albion are set to make a bid for Newcastle United’s Paul Dummett according to a report from HITC Sport.

The Baggies don’t have many senior left backs and were forced to play their centre-backs there last season so are looking for a player to try and fill that role. And with Dummett still being fairly young and having Premier League experience, he seems like the ideal man to join the rest of the squad at West Brom.

Since their relegation from the Premier League, Newcastle have been preparing to receive bids for the 24-year-old defender. While they hope to keep Dummett at the club, they realise that he may want to return to the top-tier of English football and might not be able to stop him.

But West Brom are going to have a fight if they want to sign Dummett. Crystal Palace and Burnley are also said to be interested in signing the defender to bolster their squad ahead of what is sure to be a tough season. But West Brom hope that if they make the first bid for him, they may be able to steal a march on their rivals and be able to sign him without much competition.
