Derby County bid £3.5 million for Premier League defender

Derby County have bid £3.5 million for Tottenham Hotspur defender DeAndre Yedlin, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.

The Championship side are not the only club who have bid for the defender however, with newly-promoted Premier League side Hull City also bidding £3.5 million for the player.

Yedlin, 23, spent last season on loan at Sunderland and helped the club achieve their goal of avoiding relegation.  The right-back made 23 league appearances for Sunderland, but the club have already signed a right-back this summer meaning they will not move for Yedlin.

Yedlin began his professional career with Seattle, making 69 appearances for the club in all competitions before signing for Tottenham in August 2014.  However Yedlin made only one appearance during his debut season with the club, before his loan last season.

The defender doesn’t seem to be involved in first-team plans at Tottenham, with both Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier ahead of him in the pecking order.  This could mean that Spurs are willing to sell Yedlin this summer.

At 23, Yedlin has a lot of international experience for someone so young.  The defender has 39 caps for the United States, and was part of the squad that represented his country at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Derby will have to battle with Hull to sign Yedlin but with so much international experience and having already played in the Premier League, he could be a great signing.
