Rams set to move for Spurs defender

Derby County could be set to launch a £3.5 million bid for Spurs full-back De Andre Yedlin, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs bought the American from Seattle Sounders in August 2014 but he stayed in MLS for a further season to further develop his footballing acumen. Yedlin has 39 caps for USA, beginning his international career in a friendly with South Korea in February 2014.

The 23-year-old has recently spent time on loan at Sunderland and doesn’t look to part of Pochettino’s plans as Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier continue to fight it out for the right-back position. He made 25 appearances for Sunderland last season, proving his worth in more than one position. As well as playing in his more accustomed right-back role, Yedlin was also used as a utility player, seeing time being deployed at right midfield.

This versatility, when coupled with his undoubted pedigree and potential could very well be an interesting trait that will draw teams towards him as the summer transfer window enters its final stretch.

Derby and Hull have both reportedly made a bid for the American as he looks set to leave White Hart Lane, although this may come as a surprise to Derby fans as the impressive form of Cyrus Christie at right back looks to have continued on from last season, where he was awarded the Young Player of the Year award.
