International midfielder exits Aston Villa

Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez has today joined Serie A side Fiorentina on loan, with the view to a permanent deal. He initially signs for one season and played 55 times for Villa since signing in 2014 from Spanish side Elche.

The Daily Mail reports that Fiorentina, who are managed by former Queens Park Rangers manager Paulo Sousa, have paid a £375,000 loan fee to snap up the Colombian international for the season. He joined Villa, who were a Premier League club at the time, for £4.7million.

Last season, the 30-year-old featured 30 times as the Villa Park club were relegated out of the top flight and into the Championship following a disastrous campaign. This summer he represented Colombia in the Copa America, picking up a red card in the 2-0 defeat to Chile, who went on to win the competition.

The holding midfielder score one goal in the famous Aston Villa colours, coming in April 2015 in a 3-2 away defeat to Manchester City.

He has over 60 international appearances to his name and has also appeared at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The midfielder hasn’t featured for Villa so far this season and only played on a few occasions in pre-season as well. With the likes of Gary Gardner and Ashley Westwood on the books, Roberto Di Matteo deemed the player surplus to requirements. Jordan Veretout is also hoping to leave the club as well in the coming days and weeks.
