Norwich and Derby aiming to sign Cardiff City midfielder

Derby County and Norwich City are planning moves for Cardiff City’s Aron Gunnarsson according to a report from Wales Online.

The 27-year-old midfielder is coming off a highly successful campaign at Euro 2016 national team, who he captains, after leading them to a historic quarter-final place, beating England on the way.

But despite that, Gunnarsson didn’t start in Paul Trollope’s first game as Cardiff head coach, though that may be down to him returning late to training after Euro 2016. However even with that, some clubs see that as the door opening for them to try and sign him.

And two teams chasing promotion are the ones trying to persuade the Icelandic man to move. Derby County are yet to sign a player this summer and think that Gunnarsson could boost their already strong midfield while Norwich City think he could bring a bit more Sky Bet Championship experience to their team. Both believe they can get their man for around £2m.

While Derby have been inactive in the transfer market, Norwich have been busy making sure they can get the players they need for their promotion bid. The Canaries have made four signings with them being Alex Pritchard, Sergi Canos, Michael McGovern and Paul Jones.
