Blues boss Rowett looking to add Premier League quality

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has set his sights upon bringing some young talent from the Premier League to his Blues squad according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Blues boss has listed a number of young assets who could make the difference for SkyBet Championship clubs this season with two of those players mentioned possibly being available to sign on loan.

Rowett has hinted on the club possibly making an approach to loan either Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford or Manchester United youngster James Wilson in the coming weeks although should The Blues boss decide to make a move for one of those players, he is likely to face competition from other SkyBet Championship clubs.

Bamford is currently contracted to West London club Chelsea but is yet to make his debut for The Blues despite impressing during several loan spells away from Stamford Bridge. The 22 year old striker has netted 48 goals in 125 appearances during loan spells with MK Dons, Derby County, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace and Norwich City in previous seasons.

The most realistic target for The Blues is likely to be Manchester United striker James Wilson. The Biddulph born youngster has made 20 senior appearances for The Red Devils and has scored four goals for the club but was loaned out to Brighton & Hove Albion during last season and is likely to be loaned to a club in the SkyBet Championship again this season.

Birmingham City had a solid campaign in the SkyBet Championship last season however the club scored just 53 goals which was the lowest by any club in the top 10 and Gary Rowett’s side will be looking to be more prolific in front of goal this season if they are to push for the Play Offs.
