Liverpool midfielder set to move to Wigan Athletic

Liverpool’s Cameron Brannagan is set to move on loan to Wigan Athletic according to a report from the Liverpool Echo.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been a much wanted asset this summer with Bradford City and Bristol City also being interested in signing him. A previous report had suggested that it would be up to him where he moved and it appears now that he will be making the short hop to Wigan.

However even the deal that will soon take him to the DW Stadium had some issues. Wigan originally tried to sign him on a permanent deal, but their £1m offer was rejected due to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believing that he can break into the first team at some point in the future. And even when they both agreed it would be a loan deal, Wigan originally didn’t want to be forced to play him in at least 75% of their matches, though they did eventually relent on that and that clause will be in this loan contract.

Brannagan has already made an impact at Anfield having made nine appearances for them last season and Klopp obviously likes him as reports on Merseyside say he is set to get a new contract.
