Aston Villa have received some interest from Fiorentina for Carlos Sanchez according to a report from Gianluca di Marzio.
The thought was that the 30-year-old midfielder would be staying at Villa Park when Marseille withdrew their interest for the player as they couldn’t match his high wage demands. However a deal may now be on to sell him after this report suggested that the iconic Italian club Fiorentina are now interested in signing him.
With Fiorentina head coach Paulo Sousa hoping to sort out his defence this summer, he thinks that the Colombian international could sit in front of his centre backs to protect them and mean they concede less goals next season. This report suggests that there has been some preliminary talks about the player though nothing concrete yet.
The question now is whether Villa will want to sell and if they do, what fee will demand. The West Midlands club look set to lose another midfielder this week with Idrissa Gueye looking close to an Everton move and Villa may not be keen to sell another midfielder so quickly if they don’t get a replacement. And while no fee has been mentioned in yet in terms of this move, it is expected the club will try to recoup the £4.7m they paid for him.
