Earlier today, the72 reported that Newcastle United had met the release clause in Mo Diame’s contract, and were closing in on signing the versatile midfielder player.
Diame was the man who scored the goal that saw Hull City return to the Premier League, but following the departure of Steve Bruce from the club, several players’ future has come under scrutiny.
Newcastle have made several new signings already this summer, and the Rafa Benitez revolution is well and truly underway, but how did Newcastle fans react to the news that Diame could be heading to Tyneside?
We take a look at Twitter to see:
Diame’s transfer hasn’t even been confirmed and he’s already got his own song.

In fact, here’s another song already dedicated to Diame!

Newcastle fans seem very Toptimistic about the news that Diame could become a Newcastle player within the next 24 hours.
£4.5 Milly for Mo Diame, What an absolute belter of a signing that is, and what a price 😳

The news has left fans of other clubs wondering why their club hasn’t acted on his seemingly low release clause.

Newcastle United fans are seeing Mo Diame as the perfect replacement for Moussa Sissoko.
Mo Diame is Sissoko 2.0 with a bit more age, a bit less talent but a lot more effort. And for 10 times the price.. good stuff @NUFC

The deal is by no means set in stone however. Keith Downie from Sky Sports News confirmed that Hull City are trying desperately to offer Diame a new contract.
We understand Newcastle are attempting to sign Mo Diame, but he is training with Hull today and they're trying to offer him a new contract.
