Ipswich Town sign Tottenham Hotspur starlet

Ipswich Town have signed Grant Ward from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.

The 21-year-old midfielder is coming off the back of a very successful loan spell with Rotherham United and won both the Young Player of the Season and Goal of the Season during his time at the New York Stadium. While some Tottenham players have been able to convert successful loan spells into starting places, most notably Harry Kane, Ward will not be one of them after he completed a move away from Totttenham today. He has now signed a three-year contract with Ipswich with the option of another twelve months.

While he never made an appearance for Tottenham, he has already got plenty of first team experience under his belt. Before his season long spell with Rotherham, he had moved on loan to MLS side Chicago Fire and Coventry City and showed off his potential in both of these moves. And when it became clear that he was available to buy permanently, Ipswich moved quick to complete the deal.

This is only Ipswich’s third signing of the summer as they look to refine rather than revolutionise. The only players they have signed are Adam Webster and Paul Digby.
