Leeds United leading race to sign Brazilian winger

Leeds United are leading the race to sign Carpi’s Raphael Martinho according to a report from Italian publication Tutto Mercato.

The 28-year-old winger had been linked with a move to the Whites last season but a year on the move has become more likely. His side Carpi were relegated from Serie A and now could be set to depart to make sure he doesn’t play in that league.

And despite putting up mediocre performances in Serie A after playing 11 games and scoring no goals, Leeds are interested in bringing the Brazilian to Elland Road. The West Yorkshire club have been keen to add more talent on the flanks this summer and Martinho has been seen by the coaching staff as someone who could potentially provide more competition for Stuart Dallas.

But Leeds will face a battle if they want to sign Martinho. Plenty of Italian clubs are said to be interested in signing him and the Brazilian winger may prefer to stay in Italy rather than chance his arm in the Football League.

Even if Leeds are unable to sign Martinho, they’ve already had a busy summer. Already brought in are Kemar Roofe, Marcus Antonsson, Robert Green, Kyle Bartley, Matt Grimes and Hadi Sacko.
