Derby turn down third Premier League bid for in-demand midfielder

The Derby Telegraph reports that Derby County have rejected a third offer from Barclays Premier League new-boys Burnley for Republic of Ireland international midfielder Jeff Hendrick. The most recent bid from Sean Dyche’s Clarets is believed to exceed £7million.

So far, the Rams have turned down figures of £3million and £5.5million for their in-demand midfield player. Following some decent showings at Euro 2016, the 24-year-olds stock in the game has significantly grown. Manager Nigel Pearson is keen to keep the place at the iPro Stadium, however it seems Dyche is just as keen to give the player a taste of the Premier League.

The box-to-box performer returned to pre-season training with his club yesterday after being given an extended rest following his exploits for his country in France this summer. International team-mates Richard Keogh and Cyrus Christie also returned to training after taking part at the European Championships as well.

Pearson is adamant that he wants to keep Hendrick at the Championship club and be a strong part of their intended Rams promotion bid in the upcoming campaign. Dyche is keen to snap him up as he desperate wants to fill the void left by the departed Joey Barton. He made the move to Rangers earlier this summer.
