Hull City make move for shot stopper Westwood

Hull City are planning to make a move for Sheffield Wednesday’s Keiren Westwood according to a report from the Sun via the Hull Daily Mail.

The Tigers have recently seen their usual number one Allan McGregor ruled out for six months as he’s been forced to undergo surgery on his back, meaning he will probably not return until 2017.

With Eldin Jakupovic being the only other senior keeper on Hull’s books, their manager Steve Bruce is looking to sign an experience keeper to help them on their return to the Premier League.

Reports have previously linked Hull to Cardiff City’s David Marshall and Crystal Palace’s Alex McCarthy, but this report is now saying that the Humberside club are looking to sign Westwood.

Bruce was apparently very impressed with the performance the Irish shot stopper put in during the play off final back in May and now hopes to persuade him to move back to the Premier League.

And this could be seen as one of the bargains of the summer for Hull. This report goes on to say that Westwood has a tiny release clause of £2m, much less than what Wednesday would be hoping to get for one of their star assets.
