Yeovil Town sign young Leicester keeper

Yeovil Town have signed Jonny Maddison from Leicester City on a free transfer as confirmed by the club website.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper was signed up by Leicester City two years ago as a developmental project. He was unable to break into the first team though and never made a senior appearance for the team before being released this summer.

However he was able to find a new club when he signed a one year contract with Yeovil. He will now hope to claim the number one jersey for himself and help them launch a bid for promotion after they ended up involved in a relegation battle last season.

One unusual thing to note about Maddison is that he us yet to make his senior debut. Despite being at clubs like Sunderland and Crawley Town, he has never been named on the first team sheet once and that means it could be a struggle for him to become Yeovil’s number one straight away. He may have to spend some time on the bench before being able to make his long awaited debut.

Maddison is the seventh signing of the summer for Yeovil following Joe Lea, Liam Shepherd, Tom Eaves, Ryan Hedges, Otis Khan and Joshua Ezewele joining the club.
