Fulham confirm Premier League defender signing

Fulham have completed the loan signing of Tomas Kalas from their near neighbours Chelsea. The 23-year-old defender pens a season-long loan deal from the Barclays Premier League club.

The Czech full back and centre back spent the whole of last season on loan at Middlesbrough. He helped them win promotion out of the Championship. The season before, he also spent a few months at the Riverside Stadium.

Kalas has been on the books at Stamford Bridge ever since signing in 2010. He has only made four first-team appearances during that timeframe. The majority of his time has been spent out on loan. This included spells at FC Koln and Vitesse Arnheim.

Having gained 18 months of experience in the Championship, head coach Slavisa Jokanovic believes he is the perfect player to strengthen his squad. The Cottagers had a terrible defensive record last season, so it is no shock to see they have made their move for a proven defensive player at this level.

Serb Jokanovic has recently spoken of his hope of signing more players for his Fulham squad ahead of the new season. He will certainly be targeting a couple more as he tries to replicate the success he achieved whilst Watford manager, when he took them to the Premier League.
