Benfica’s Anderson Talisca could be set to move to Wolves rather than Liverpool due to work permit rules according to a report from Sport Witness.
Despite playing for Benfica since 2014, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder needs a work permit to play in Europe. And with Talisca hankering for a move away from Portugal this summer, his representatives have been looking for ways to get him into the Premier League.
With them expecting Liverpool to be interested in the player, they worry that he wouldn’t be able to get a work permit because he’s never been capped for Brazil, and England’s new harsh rules mean they have to cost a lot of money or be reputable in their home country. There is a young potential loophole in the work permit rules which they are aiming to fit Talisca in, but as he’s a regular for Benfica this may work.
However one of the workarounds that Talisca’s representatives believe could work is if instead of moving to the Premier League, Talisca instead joined the Championship with Wolves being one of the sides they think are interested. The Black County club could be set to get a massive transfer budget if a billionaire led takeover is completed and Talisca’s representatives believe that paperwork will be a lot simpler for a Championship team.
However some have suggested that this shows a misunderstanding of work permit rules and that moving to Wolves rather than Liverpool wouldn’t be easier.
