Huddersfield finally sign Liverpool goalkeeper on loan

Huddersfield Town have finally completed the signing of Danny Ward from Liverpool on a season long loan as confirmed by the club website.

It had been expected that the deal to send the 23-year-old goalkeeper on loan to the Terriers for a long time with the first report of this emerging back in May. But it had been hit by several delays including Ward’s international duty which meant it took until today for the season long loan spell to be completed.

Signing a new pair of goalkeepers had been one of Huddersfield’s main aims this summer and with Ward signing on, they have finally achieved it. There was a hole in the area when Jed Steer returned to Aston Villa after his loan ended and Joe Murphy being ruled out for part of next season after undergoing surgery.

The West Yorkshire club signed their first keeper of the season when Joel Coleman moved from Oldham Athletic earlier in the summer and he will be forced to battle it out with Ward for the number one jersey.

Ward does come with plenty of pedigree which may help him in that battle. After his successful loan spell with Aberdeen last season, he got a call up to the Wales squad for Euro 2016 and started the opening game of the tournament against Slovakia.
