The Sun (10th July, Page 62) understands that West Bromwich Albion will scout Huddersfield Town midfielder Philip Billing over pre-season. Baggies boss Tony Pulis believes that the 20-year-old fits the profile for the type of long-term player the club needs.
The Dane has played 14 times for the Championship club since breaking into the first-team fold last season. Head Coach David Wagner rates the player highly and is likely to enjoy even more first-team opportunities this season at the John Smiths’ Stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur are said to have paid close attention to Billing last season. However they struggled to gather a true understanding of the player as Wagner tended to rotate his squad quite regularly.
It is believed that any club wishing to sign Billing would have to part way with a cool £5million. He joined the club in 2013 from Esbjerg and made his first-team debut in April 2014. Billing also has one cap for the Denmark Under-19 team.
So far, he has scored one goal during his professional career. That came against Nottingham Forest last season in a 2-0 victory at the City Ground. It wasn’t just any old strike though, it was certainly a goal of the season contender! Check out that goal in the video below!
