MATCH REPORT: Nottingham Forest well beaten by Tottenham in pre-season opener

Nottingham Forest were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham Hotspur in their first pre-season friendly.

The game took placed behind closed doors at Tottenham’s training ground at Hotspur Way and was the first time that Philippe Montanier was able to see his team in action. But he won’t have been impressed after they failed to put up much a fight against the Champions League team.

Just three minutes into the game Tottenham took the lead when Heung-Min Son was able to get the ball before firing in from a tight angle. Forest keeper Dorus de Vries did get a hand to it but it wasn’t enough to stop it from going into the net.

And it kept getting worse as within five minutes Tottenham were able to double their lead when Luke Amos put in a great cross and Thomas Carroll as able to control it before finishing past de Vries.

Forest did eventually find their rhythm after a strong start from Tottenham and had some chances of their own when Jamie Paterson forced a save from Michel Vorm and Britt Assombalonga even had the ball in the net only for it to be ruled out for offside.

But Tottenham’s comfortable win was confirmed as Alex Pritchard latched onto a Nabil Bentaleb flick on and smashed it home for the third.
