Bradford set to sign Blackpool keeper for ludicrously small fee

Bradford City are set to sign Blackpool’s Colin Doyle for next to nothing according to a report from the Telegraph & Argus.

Despite Blackpool being relegated again last season, the 31-year-old goalkeeper was one of the few players to come out of it with some credit to his name after a number of impressive games kept the Tangerines in games that they should have been well beaten in.

But Doyle is set to follow his goalkeeping coach Steve Banks to Bradford after they activated a clause in his contract which allows the once capped Republic of Ireland player to move for a tiny fee, which some reports have suggested is just £1.

It’s the latest in a series of problems that have beset in Blackpool in the last few years. The fans have been at war with the owner Karl Oyston ever since they were relegated from the Premier League, with their protests even cancelling games during 2015. And now that an error in the contract of Doyle is allowing him to leave the club for the price of a grab bag of Malteasers, that anger is only going to increase.

Doyle would join Nathaniel Knight-Percival and Nicky Law who have already signed for the Bantams this summer.
