Ipswich Town: U-21 manager join Premier League club

Written in the East Anglian Daily Times Ipswich Town under-21 manager Mark Kennedy has left his post at the east anglia club to join up with the academy coaching staff at Premier League club Manchester City.

Kennedy who was brought to Ipswich Town as a player by his former Republic of Ireland international team mate Roy Keane in the summer of 2010 for a fee understood to be in the region of £750,000 from Cardiff City.

The former Tractor Boys player also made appearances for several clubs including Millwall, Liverpool, Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace. He began coaching at Ipswich under former boss Paul Jewell who then named him the Under-21 boss the following summer.

Ipswich U21’s finished seventh in a table of ten teams in the Professional Development League Two South Division.

Mick McCarthy who is yet to replace Kennedy spoke to the club website:

“We are disappointed to see Sparky go but we wish him all the best for the future,”
