Blackburn Rovers have taken a keen interest in Dundee FC striker Greg Stewart, according to The Evening Telegraph.
New Rovers boss Owen Coyle is hoping to boost his squad’s attacking arsenal, and could do so by securing the signature of the 26-year-old Scottish forward.
Stewart began his professional career at Cowdenbeath, before a switch to Dens Park in June 2014 brought the Scotsman to great prominence on the footballing stage.
In two Premiership seasons, Stewart has bagged 20 goals, forming a formidable partnership with fellow striker Kane Hemmings, which has helped Dundee establish themselves firmly as a top-flight club.
However, whilst The Dark Blues are reluctant to relinquish the services of one of their brightest talents, Coyle will be eager to secure Stewart’s switch south of the border to Ewood Park.
If Dundee are to part with Stewart, the club will supposedly be looking to land a hefty sum of £1.5 million, a figure which could potentially ward away numerous probing clubs.
Dees boss Paul Hartley and senior figures at Dundee view Stewart as being ‘almost irreplaceable’, according to the Evening Telegraph, meaning Stewart’s departure this summer remains unlikely, unless a substantial offer is tabled in the coming weeks.
In his debut season as Blackburn manager, Coyle will be desperate to improve the Lancashire club’s relatively disappointing 15th place finish last campaign.
