No more Hyde-ing for Stevenage after new signing

Stevenage have signed Jake Hyde from York City on a free transfer as confirmed by the club website.

The 26-year-old striker is coming off the back of a very poor season with the Minstermen where he only made 14 appearances for the club and failed to score a single goal. Despite that, Stevenage have enough faith in him to produce for them and he has signed a contract of undisclosed length with the club.

While Hyde didn’t have the best season last year, he has shown in the past that he is a reliable striker in the Football League. In his previous season for York, Hyde was able to keep the team in League 2 by scoring ten goals in 42 appearances with his only black mark being a red card against Luton Town.

Now though Hyde will be hoping to help Stevenage make a push for the play off places, something that they disappointingly missed out on last season.

After signing for the club, Hyde said: “I’d like to think, as most strikers do, that I’m a goalscorer. I always work as hard as I possibly can for the football club. I prefer the ball in the box, it’s where I want to be scoring goals. I like to play football but I’m hungry to score goals and win football matches.”

“I know this league inside out now and any team can go on a run, but it’s who does it for the longest period that counts. It’s about winning games and fingers crossed I can help Stevenage do that this season.”
