Sheffield United to receive seven figure sum for young star

Sheffield United are set to receive a seven figure sum from Everton for Dominic Calvert-Lewin according to a report from the Liverpool Echo.

The 19-year-old striker is yet to make much of an impression for the Blades yet after coming through their academy and hasn’t scored for them in 11 appearances. However he is highly rated within the club and was handed a long term deal last summer with a view to keep him as long as possible.

But United look set to cash in on the young striker after Everton also noted his potential and made a £1m bid that was promptly accepted. And that move looks set to be completed in the coming days with United set to profit once again from their academy structure which has seen them produce players such as Matthew Lowton and Harry Maguire in recent years.

Calvert-Lewin shouldn’t be expecting to burst straight in to the first team to rub shoulders with Romelu Lukaku just yet and will instead have to prove himself in an improving Everton U21 squad. This summer the Toffees have already added Bassala Sambou and Chris Renshaw to their youth ranks and may be looking to add more before the summer is out.
