Dutch international completes move away from QPR

Leroy Fer has left QPR to join Swansea City for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.

The 26-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move back to to the Swans after he had a successful loan spell there in the second half of last season where he made 11 appearances. Reports suggested that the deal was close to being done yesterday and they turned out to be true after it was confirmed he signed a three year deal with Swansea.

Some may say that Swansea have got a very good signing, especially if the reported fee of £4.75m is true, but others have suggested that he is a cursed player. In his first season with Norwich City the Canaries were relegated from the Premier League and after switching to QPR that summer, they then were also relegated from the top tier. Swansea will now have to be at their best to make sure they aren’t the third team to suffer a relegation after the signing of Fer.

Before coming to England, Fer built his reputation in the Netherlands, initially with Feyenoord where he came through as a youngster move before moving to FC Twente in 2013 where he continued to improve his game before moving to Norwich and England in 2013.
