Rotherham United midfielder Lee Frecklington has signed a fresh two-year contract with the club. The 30-year-old has played over 100 games for the Millers, helping them win promotion and then survive in the Championship.
Since signing from Peterborough United permanently in January 2013, Frecklington has become a key player for the club. He was captain for a prolonged period of time. He had a year left on his previous deal, but has signed a fresh two year contract.
Speaking on the news of his extension, the ex-Lincoln City youngster expressed his delight at remaining at Miller for a little while longer,
“I’m very pleased and I think it’s obvious that I enjoy playing for this football club and to extend it by another couple of seasons is something that I was keen to do and I’m really happy that it’s over the line.
“The fans have been brilliant with me since I came here in League Two and its nice to play for a club where you feel like that and I’m hopeful that I’ve got another two years at least of playing in front of them again.”
‘Freck’ played 29 times last season despite having a persisting injury problem. He played a major part in the clubs revival after Neil Warnock took over. The midfielder says he is already looking ahead to next season, with the pre-season trip to Poland being something to look forward to.
