Danish club confirm signing of Leeds midfielder

Leeds United midfielder Casper Sloth has completed his transfer to Danish Superliga side AaB Aalborg. He moves for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year contract.

Sloth spent the past two seasons at Elland Road after joining from Aarhus. He played a total of 14 first-team matches during that period. His latest came in February 2015 in the 2-0 away defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

He has been given the number 14 squad number at the Nordjyske Arena. He joins following discussions with Sports Director Allan Gaarde within the last few weeks.

Sloth says this is the right move at this point in his career,

“I have long been aware of AaB’s interest. Last week a direct conversation with Allan Gaarde seriously convinced me that AaB and I will be a good match.

The players at AaB as a club have a great reputation with decent values, like AaB is best known for positive football and strong results. I look forward to being a part of all this, and hopefully I can with my performances contribute to the community, so both AaB and myself will prosper.

“I think that today I am a more complete player than when I moved to England, and I’m really looking forward to getting started in AaB.”

The new Danish Superliga season starts in a few weeks time. Aalborg start off their campaign on July 17th against newly-promoted Horsens. Sloth will be hoping to make an immediate impact.
