Notts County sign striker for the third time

League Two side Notts County have announced the signing of striker Jonathan Forte. Earlier today, there was big speculation that the forward was set to undergo a medical at Meadow Lane.

Forte has penned a two-year contract with the Magpies. He joins the club after deciding against extending his contract with Oldham Athletic in League One. He quickly links up with John Sheridan once again.

Notts fans will be aware of Forte as he has actually pulled on the Notts County jersey relatively recently. He had a few loan spells with the club. Firstly between November 2008 and December 2008, before signing again in February 2009. He then signed on loan from Southampton in January 2012.

He was top scorer for Oldham a couple of seasons ago in League One, so this is something of a coup for Notts County at the level below. Sheridan has already made several signings this summer.

Forte says he is looking forward not only to working with Sheridan, but representing the club once again,

“It’s going to be third time lucky! Obviously the Gaffer is here, I had him at Oldham, I really enjoyed being under him.

“I love Notts County as well. This is my (third) time here, and I did well for them so I thought it was the right time to come back.”
