Accrington Stanley loan in West Brom youngster

Accrington Stanley have signed West Brom’s Callam Jones on loan for six months as confirmed by the club website.

The 20-year-old defender, a youth international for England, hasn’t made his professional debut yet after playing for the developmental squads at West Brom over the last few years. Now though he will finally get the chance to make his professional debut and test himself against other senior players now he has moved on loan to Accrington for the first half of the season.

After losing in the play off semi finals, Accrington manager John Coleman is looking to boost the number of players in his squad and that shows by the fact that Jones is the sixth signing of the summer. Players who have already confirmed that they will be moving to the Crown Ground this summer are Elliott Parish, Frazer Shaw, Aaron Chapman, Omar Beckles and Bastien Hery.

After signing for Accrington, Jones said: “It’s a bit crazy and a bit overwhelming to see all the new faces I guess,”

“I’ve been at West Brom for so long and seen the same faces and now I’m coming into a new environment and seeing lots of new people trying to achieve the same thing. It’s good.

“This is what I need, to be playing men’s football. I’ve been playing under 21’s football for a while now so I’ve been at the same level. I think coming here will be a good learning curve for me.”
