MK Dons defender set to Rangers move

MK Dons’ Lee Hodson looks set to leave the club and join Rangers according to a report from The Sun.

The 24-year-old defender lost his place in the first team following their promotion to the Championship and ended up being loaned out to Kilmarnock for the second half of the season. And while the Dons are now back in League 1, Hodson doesn’t look likely to get back into the first team any time soon so it seems likely that he will be leaving Stadium:MK at some point this summer.

And Hodson, who was most recently with the Northern Ireland squad at Euro 2016 though he never made an appearance, could be about to head back north of the border as Rangers are reported to be interested in signing him. Rangers head coach Mark Warburton knows Hodson well, firstly from when he was coming through the Watford youth ranks and then from when he had a loan spell with Brentford.

And with Rangers wanting a full back who can play on either side of defence, Hodson could be about to link up with Warburton again. The full back can play at both the right and left of defence and with Warburton prizing versatility this season, that is a vital asset that is persuading him to sign Hodson.
