Winger makes return to Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers have signed Liam Feeney from Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer as confirmed by the club website.

The 29-year-old winger moved on loan to Blackburn back in the 2013-14 season and went on to make six appearances for the side, though he only made one start. Now though he will be returning to Ewood Park after he signed a two year contract with the club with the option of another 12 months.

He was previously at Bolton Wanderers, a team he signed for back in 2014. While he was a regular for the club during his two years at the Macron Stadium, he was actually loaned out to Ipswich town at the end of last season so he wasn’t there when it was confirmed that Bolton was relegated to League 1.

The Tractor Boys had been interested in signing Feeney on a permanent deal but they couldn’t offer a more attractive deal than Blackburn, meaning they will have to wait to get their next transfer done.

Feeney started in non-league football, first at Hayes and then moving to Salisbury Town. He moved to Bournemouth in 2009 where he made his reputation after making over then 100 appearances for them before moving to Millwall. After making 73 appearances there, he moved to Bolton in 2014.
