Former Valencia manager Miroslav Djukic is in talks with Nottingham Forest over becoming their new manager. Spanish publication Super Deporte reports that he will travel to London to enter negotiations.
There have been many different favourites in the eyes of the bookmakers. Oscar Garcia, Ryan Giggs, Marco Silva and Victor Sanchez are just some of the few to enjoy that accolade. The price of Djukic is forever shortening.
The 50-year-old has been out of work since exiting his role at Cordoba in 2015. He has held several coaching and managerial roles since retiring from playing in 2004. There was a time he was the Serbia national team manager. Valencia is certainly the highest-profile club role on his CV.
The Spaniard publication suggested that a decision regarding Djukic will be made ‘in hours’. Michel is another name said to be in the running, whilst Sanchez was expected to take over before taking on the Olympiacos job. Evangelos Marinakis, the Olympiacos owner, will soon invest in Nottingham Forest. Marco Silva surprisingly resigned from the manager’s role this week.
It is very much a case of watch this space regarding Djukic. Fawaz Al Hasawi recently said that a managerial appointment was close. The situation at Olympiacos has clearly changed that. Forest fans are growing concerned that they don’t yet have a new manager. Fixtures for the new season are now out. The reality of new season approaching will now have hit home.
