West Brom close in on Newcastle midfielder

West Brom are interested in signing French international Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The midfielder-cum-winger has impressed for France at the Euros and was Newcastle’s main creative outlet last year, but has expressed his desire to leave St. James’.

Sissoko has never really endeared himself to the Newcastle faithful but is clearly a talented, physical behemoth of a footballer who is capable of changing a game on his own.

West Brom are reportedly interested in signing the wideman who they see as a good creative option for a team who didn’t score many last year.

Newcastle are hoping to recoup some of the money they spent on the player who seemed to view the club as a stepping stone back when he signed, but now appears to be finding his level in midtable.

West Brom have also been linked with QPR winger Matt Phillips as they look to add some pace to their side.

Baggies were one of the lowest scoring sides in the Premier League and failed to register shots on target in several games.

Newcastle are happy to let Sissoko go after his comments, and West Brom could be the good fit for the French international.
