West Brom have made a £4m bid for QPR’s Matt Phillips according to a report from The Telegraph.
The Baggies have had a longstanding in Phillips for a while as their manager Tony Pulis seems keen to add a pacey winger to their squad. And now a year after they had bids rejected for the Scottish international, they have come back again to see if they can get Phillips to move to the Hawthorns. And the move could happen quickly with Pulis hoping that he could wrap it all up by the end of the week.
Last season, West Brom had tried to sign Phillips and had been told in no uncertain terms that he would cost them £8m. A season on, his valuation has dropped as QPR head coach Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink aims to shed the higher earners in his squad following a mediocre season where they never even looked like challenging for promotion.
Phillips started his career at the Wycombe Wanderers academy and became one of their top talents during the few years he was there and earned a move to Blackpool in 2010. After a brief but impressive spell with Sheffield United, Phillips showed his talent at Blackpool but as they started to nosedive, he signed for QPR.
