The transfer of Sandro from Queens Park Rangers to Sporting Lisbon looks to be off. WestLondonSport understands that the Brazilian has failed a medical with the Portuguese side.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is keen on getting the 27-year-old off the wage bill at Loftus Road. He has struggled with injury problems ever since signing for QPR in September 2014.
He has since appeared only 28 times in the league for the R’s since signing up from Tottenham Hotspur. Dutchman Hasselbaink, and Sandro himself, will probably now be hoping another side can come in for the player. First and foremost, the 17-cap international must prove his fitness if he wants to move onto pastures new.
He ended last season in the Premier League on loan at West Bromwich Albion. Tony Pulis is highly unlikely to try and sign him on a permanent contract. Hasselbaink is already planning for life without Sandro. They have expressed their interest in signing Arsenal’s Isaac Hayden. He is a similar type of player to Sandro in the centre of midfield.
His troublesome knee problems appear to have haunted him once again. During his Spurs days, he looked a more than steady player. So much so, he was recognised by the Brazilian national team manager. He made his debut for his country in a World Cup qualifier versus Chile in September 2009.
