Norwich striker signs new contract

Cameron Jerome has signed a new three year contract with the option of another year with Norwich City as confirmed by the club website.

While the 29-year-old striker still had a year to run on his previous deal, the Canaries were keen to make sure that he stayed at Carrow Road and have now got him to sign a new deal which will keep him at the club until 2019 and potentially 2020 if the option in his contract is activated.

Jerome initially signed for Norwich from Stoke City back in 2014 for an undisclosed fee and soon became a key player. In that first season he scored 21 goals in 45 appearances and led the way as Norwich got promoted to the Premier League via the play offs. However as Jerome as done before, he struggled when in the top tier and scored only three goals. With the lack of goals being one of many reasons Norwich were relegated, many fans blamed him for their poor season.

After signing the contract, Jerome said: “It’s nice to get this deal over the line early on so I can come back fully focused ready for next season.”

“Within a couple of weeks of joining I realised what a good club this was. It’s a good set of players and the manager is really enthusiastic and wants to help the lads improve.”
“We need to come back with fresh optimism to get the job done and get promoted again next season, that’s the challenge now.”
