Arsenal close to completing deal for Bolton defender

Arsenal are close to completing the deal to sign Bolton Wanderers’ Rob Holding according to a report from the Express.

It was miserable for Bolton last season after they ended up being relegated from the Championship after finishing at the bottom of the table. But one of the few bright spots in that terrible season was Holding, a young player that came through the club’s academy and impressed when he broke through into the first team on a regular basis. He was so good that supporters voted him as their Player of the Season and then capped off the year by being in the England U21s squad when they won the Toulon Tournament.

Those performances though did attract the attention of several clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic but according to this report Arsenal are set to complete the deal for the defender. They have now agreed a £1.5million fee for the player, which does include several performance based add ons, and that the deal will be confirmed in the next few days.

Holding would be the second signing of the summer for Arsenal after they sealed the deal for Granit Xhaka from German club Borussia Monchengladbach, though Holding will probably have to wait a bit longer than him to get his debut.
