Leeds United keen on signing Danish international striker

According to Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Leeds United’s owner Massimo Cellino is keen on bringing Simon Makienok to Elland Road following his season-long loan with Charlton Athletic.

The 25 year-old striker is a towering figure standing at a huge 6’7″, but managed to net just five goals in 35 games for the Addicks before returning to his parent club Palermo.

Starting his career in his home country of Denmark with Herfolge, Makienok then moved to HB Koge before joining Superliga giants Brondby IF.

A prolific two years with the Copenhagen-based team – which saw him net 35 goals in 77 games in all competitions – earned him a move to Serie A club Palermo.

The fee was rumoured to be in the region of £1.8 million but the Dane has failed to break into the starting line up with the Italians, playing just four times since his move and failing to find the back of the net on any of those occasions.

Makienok joined Charlton on a season-long loan at the start of the 2015-16 campaign – a season which saw the Addicks relegated to League One.

Highly rated at international level, the attacker played for Denmark at three youth levels before earning his first senior cap in 2013.
