Grimsby teenager signs first pro deal

Young Grimsby Town winger Max Wright has signed his first pro deal with the League Two club, reports the Mariners’ official website.

Wright recovered from a serious injury received in the club’s Lincolnshire Senior Cup quarter-final defeat to Grantham Town last season, to impress for both the Mariners’ youth and reserve sides during the 2015/16 campaign.

And he has been rewarded for those displays with a one-year deal at Blundell Park.

The Aylesbury-born midfielder particularly caught the eye in a 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe United’s second string at Brigg Town in March.

And the young wide man is eager to get going and try and force his way into Paul Hurst’s first team plans.

He said: “It’s going to be difficult, but I can not wait!”

“Obviously I have had a lot of injuries here but I don’t want to take it easy.

“I want to put all my effort into everything all the time and just enjoy it.

“Traditionally a lot of wingers use their pace to beat people, to go past people and change the game – that’s what I want to do, be a game changer.”
