Huddersfield deal for Forest winger delayed by manager uncertainty

Huddersfield Town are wanting to sign Nottingham Forest’s Jamie Paterson on a permanent deal but it’s being delayed because of the uncertainty at the manager’s position at Forest according to a report from the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

The Terriers are keen to sign the 24-year-old winger on a permanent deal after a successful spell on loan with the club last season where he scored eight times in 38 games. They have also been given help as the signals show that Forest would be willing to do a deal with Huddersfield and sell Paterson.

However it could be some time until the deal is completed as it is all waiting on Forest getting a new manager. After deciding not to give Paul Williams the job on a full time basis, the Reds are looking for a new boss, with the current being former Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Oscar Garcia, and they aren’t willing to make any decisions on players being sold until they have a new manager in place.

The issue for Huddersfield is not just that they have to wait to get a deal done but that interest for Paterson could increase during this time period. Already Brentford are reported to be interested in the winger with their head coach Dean Smith previously working with Paterson at Walsall.
