Everton the latest side to be interested in Newcastle playmaker

Everton are the latest team to join the race to sign Newcastle United’s Georginio Wijnaldum according to a report from Chronicle Live.

The Toffees had been interested in the Dutch midfielder last summer but elected to join Newcastle instead. Now that the Magpies have been relegated from the Premier League and Wijnaldum looks likely to leave the club, Everton have stated their interested in bringing the attacking midfielder to Goodison Park.

However they aren’t the only club to want to sign Wijnaldum this summer. Italian club Roma have also said they are interested in signing him and Southampton, who like Everton wanted to sign the midfielder last summer, are also keen to bring Wijnaldum in.

Currently, Wijnaldum is refusing to be drawn on his future, with him telling the Dutch media following his goal for the Netherlands against Poland that his focus will be on the national side and the upcoming Euros.

Wijnaldum signed for Newcastle last summer from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for a fee believed to be around £14.5million. Despite Newcastle eventually being relegated from the Premier League, the 25-year-old was impressive after scoring 11 goals in 40 appearances which is why so many teams are interested in signing him this summer.
