Retained List: Four depart Accrington Stanley

It was a season which looked set to promise so much for Accrington Stanley, so much in the form of automatic promotion. After missing out on the final day, they dropped into the play-offs, but couldn’t get past AFC Wimbledon over two legs. Although it has been a great season, they now prepare for another slog in League Two.

Manager John Coleman has now revealed his retained list after their eventful campaign. Total senior professionals will be leaving, whilst a further two youngsters will also leave the Crown Ground.

Josh Windass and Matt Crooks are also leaving the club after signing pre-contract agreement deals with Rangers earlier in the season. Interestingly, Coleman has still offered them new contracts, although it is almost inevitable they have played their last games for the club.

Defender Liam Wakefield moves on having started seven League Two matches this season. The former Doncaster man joined at the start of the season but leaves after just one year with the club. He joins Jason Mooney in leaving the club. He also exits having spent just the one season with Accrington, although he did start over half of their league games this season.

Youngsters Keenan Quansah and Kealan Steenson complete the list of those to leave the club.

A total of 16 players have been offered contracts extensions as Coleman looks to keep the core of his team in place, with the intention of going one better next year if possible.

The following players have been offered new contracts:

Marcus Carver, Matt Crooks, Ross Etheridge, Liam Goulding, Max Hazeldine, Shay McCartan, Brayden Shaw, Josh Windass, Anthony Barry, Rommy Boco, Scott Brown, Adam Buxton, Tom Davies, Terry Gornell, Mark Hughes, Piero Mingoia, Andy Procter, Dean Winnard.
