Notts County have confirmed their retained list and they have allowed eleven players to leave the club. Amongst those are some names that plenty will be familiar with. The club are currently without a manager but that hasn’t stopped them preparing their squad for next season.
Three have been offered new contracts, again including a familiar name, whilst an option has been taken up on one more individual, who shall therefore remain at Meadow Lane.
The experienced Alan Smith has been offered an extension. He started over half of their league games this season and although he is advanced in years, he still has plenty to offer both on and off the field for the Magpies. Defenders Haydn Hollis and Wes Atkinson have also been offered extensions and both enjoyed runs in the team throughout the season. Jordan Richards has signed an extension with the club taking up an option on his deal.
A total of eleven have been let go. Roy Carroll looks set to return from international duty at the Euros this summer without a club as the veteran keeper has been released after Notts County elected not to offer him an extension. Hard-tackling midfielder Liam Noble has also been allowed to leave, probably because of his dreadful disciplinary record. Left back Blair Adams has also been allowed to find another club.
The remaining nine to go can be best described as fringe players or youngsters who haven’t played much in the first-team. They are Jordan Aghatise, Jason Banton, Colby Bishop, Will Hayhurst, Taylor McKenzie, Ronan Murray, Lartey Sarpong and Filip Valencic.
The following players remain under contract for next season:
Stanley Aborah, Mawouna Amevor, Thierry Audel, Scot Bennett, Graham Burke, Adam Campbell, Kyle De Silva, Elliott Hewitt, Scott Loach, Izale McLeod, Rob Milsom, Rhys Sharpe, Genaro Snijders, Jon Stead, Curtis Thompson.
